Texas Direct

Texas Direct offers simple and affordable electronic messaging among health care providers. Texas Direct messages are secure and HIPAA compliant meaning you can use them to send patient information to your colleagues and provide better patient care.

Texas Direct provides your organization with a low cost, electronic alternative to fax machines and paper for many kinds of data and document exchanges. There is a small, one time set-up fee followed by a nominal monthly subscription fee.

Texas Direct is also compatible with any mobile device.  So choose the green alternative to faxing, choose Texas Direct.

What exactly does Texas Direct do?

  • Provides a secure, web-based messaging system that meets Stage 1 Meaningful Use criteria
  • Allows the exchange of patient data between different health care systems via secure webmail
  • Features the ability to attach clinical documents and referrals
  • Connection to a broad range of providers through Texas Direct’s Provider Directory
  • Provides mobile, physician to physician messaging

What about EHR?

An EHR is not needed to participate in Texas Direct.  The Direct portal is a web-based mail exchange in which users are assigned an account.

How is Texas Direct set up?

Texas Direct involves a quick and easy set up and requires little downtime for implementation.  Set up can typically be performed off-site by one of Texas Direct’s experienced implementers.
